Doors 18:30 | Start 19:00

This event is part of the PANDAwomen 2025 Festival.

Curated by artist and activist Najla Alshami, this evening opens a space for contemporary Yemeni music shaped by displacement, memory, and innovation. Through voice, text, and rhythm, the program weaves together traditional references and future-facing forms — from poetic ballads to electronic experiments.

Programme:

Presentation
Eman Almansob

An interactive talk exploring how Yemeni women transform their outward appearance—using style and symbols—as a nostalgic call to their roots and a means of affirming their identity. This session invites reflection on how these creative expressions become acts of cultural remembrance and adaptation while navigating new social environments.

Short Film & Yemen Art Base Talk

The screening of a short Yemeni film “Until Autumn Returns” directed by Yousra Ishaq and a brief talk by Najla Alshami about the Yemen Art Base project — connecting local and diasporic Yemeni artists across disciplines.

Music Performance

A vocalist drawing from the richness of classical Arabic poetry, Eman opens the night with a warm, intimate set of songs blending lyrical tradition with contemporary arrangements. Her performance gently welcomes the audience into the world of Yemeni expression — with surtitles and short English introductions for wider accessibility.
