  • A stage for new projects: Opportunity for young, alternative, and experimental art projects to present themselves to the public as well as to develop continuously and without economic constraints.

About PANDA

From exhibitions to artist talks, political discussions, theater performances to experimental music, contemporary global beats, futuristic performances, LGBTQI+ projects, and social activism – PANDA platforma is an important stage and meeting point for international art and culture makers as well as democratic thinkers of East European communities in Berlin.

PANDA has become a significant address for alternative global art in Berlin. As an interdisciplinary and open-format art platform, whose special feature lies in its affinity to the audience, PANDA places great value on integrative and innovative formats. For many young artists, our stage represents a rare opportunity to try out their new programs.

PANDA platforma exists as a non-profit association since 2009 in the very central location for the Berlin art scene in the Kulturbrauerei. During this time, PANDA has developed into an international and interdisciplinary art, participation, and cultural platform. For years, current political and social issues around the East European communities, Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, LGBTQI+ scene, and repressions in Russia and Belarus have been the focus of our work. For democratic-thinking oppositional artists who have no chance to reach the audience in their home countries, the PANDA’s doors are always open.

From the very beginning, we have taken an active stand against Russian state propaganda. Since February 2022, PANDA has been in continuous contact with refugees from Ukraine. On Sundays, PANDA turns into a Safe Space, a place for people who have fled the war. Ukrainian refugees have free access to many of our events. Alongside our primary activities, countless “side projects” for different age and interest groups are being created.

As a hub between cultures, generations, and cultural mindsets, PANDA platforma brings migrants into contact with German social discourse – and vice versa. The important key points are education, coming to terms with one’s own history, participation in cultural life, education of democratic understanding, ecological, gender-political, independent consciousness, etc. Networking in Berlin, Germany, and worldwide is an important part of our work.

Valentin Silvestrov, Boris Grebenshchikov, Mariana Sadovska, Yuriy Gurzhy, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Aki Takase, Ajam Quartet, Yael Badash, Vladimir Sorokin, Maria Stepanova, Wladimir Kaminer, Bas Böttcher, Dmitry Strozev, Svetlana Ben, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, Daniel Kahn, Alexander Delfinov, Zurab Rtveliashvili, Dinara Rasuleva and many, many more have performed on our stage.
