Twin Flames | A-Live Set // #PANDAglobal

Twin Flames are presenting a beautiful selection of songs that come from Greek Tradition in their very unique way, collaborating with Greek double bassist Sofia Eftychidou and Polish percussionist Borys Slowikowski.

Maroulita de Kol and Penelope Gkika (aka Twin Flames) have been working together for nearly a decade, researching and reinterpreting the stories and musical material of Greek traditional music. Their collaborative work together focuses on exploring a radically different approach to traditional music, presenting the music in a context that combines traditional music with a more avant-garde approach, utilising violin, piano, voices and electronics. Their sound can move from ethereal soundscapes to powerful ecstatic loops with easiness. As trained classical musicians, they intertwine their cultural legacy with contemporary artistic practices, allowing the music to evolve in a way that resonates with and connects to the world we all collectively inhabit.

In addition to their duo project, they have founded three Berlin-based bands that are involved in similar sonic research – Reverse Mode, Arcangel Trio and Farmagia. They have released the album Mora (Reverse Mode) and are currently working on their next album with Arcangel Trio.
