According to the legend from the bible “the Book of Esther” – 2500 years ago in the kingdom of Persia a wicked minister named “Haman” tried to eliminate all Jews in the kingdom of King “Xerxes”.
The Jews were saved only by a beautiful Jewish girl named Esther (Ishtar) and her uncle Mordekhai (Maraduk).
Esther seduced king Xerxes and Mordekhai revealed Haman’s plot to kill the king Xerxes.
At the end of the story, the bad guys were killed and the Jews began to celebrate the victory by drinking a lot of alcohol and wearing costumes and eating vagina shaped cookies stuffed with poppy seeds, called “Haman’s ear”.
All this over the years has become an official and happy holiday called Purim.
23.3.19 in Panda theater, we will celebrate Purim as well in costumes and drinking alcohol.
In honor of the happy event, we specially invited a pair of colorful musicians from the Middle East (ISR) – Rimojeki.
They will take us on a journey to ancient Mesopotamian mythologies, into space, into the future and back.
Entrance in costume only!
If you want to know more about the story behind the legend you can come earlier to hear a lecture by Rimo & Jackie about the real sources of the holiday.
