A deeply felt need to express musically the tradition of the early 20th century Greece and Anatolia way of life led the band Rebetikon to turn to the exclusive musical paths of rebetiko music – with the aim of conveying this Greek blues-like music genre with simplicity, dedication and respect for the original way of composition and performance, in order to revive the authentic sound of the music of this era almost 100 years after its birth.

To the Cologne-based band REBETIKON, founded in 2016 belong Ronia Topalidou (vocals, baglamas), Epaminondas Ladas (bouzouki), Giorgos Evangelou (vocals, bouzouki), and Philipp Köbele (guitar).

Ein tief empfundenes Bedürfnis, die Tradition der Rembetiko-Lebensweise (frühes 20. Jahrhundert Griechenland und Kleinasien) musikalisch auszudrücken, veranlasste die Band, sich den exklusiven musikalischen Pfaden der Rembetiko-Musik zuzuwenden – mit dem Ziel, die Vermittlung des Rembetiko-Musikgenres (griechischer Blues) mit Einfachheit, Hingabe und Respekt vor der ursprünglichen Kompositions- und Aufführungsweise, um den authentischen Klang der Musik dieser Ära fast 100 Jahre nach ihrer Geburt wiederzubeleben.

Die Band REBETIKON, 2016 in Köln gegründet, setzt sich aus: Ronia Topalidou (Gesang, Baglamas), Epaminondas Ladas (Bouzouki), Giorgos Evangelou (Gesang, Bouzouki) und Philipp Köbele (Gitarre) zusammen.
