21:00 Horizontaler Gentransfer
Horizontaler Gentransfer (HGT) is a K-punk band and collective art project from Stuttgart, made up of Mizi Lee, Yun Park, Jerry Ahn, Seonha Park, Lilian Gonzalez, and Hanseo Oh. Founded in 2022 at the Academy of Fine Arts, their practice extends far beyond music – they design their own stages, costumes, videos, visuals, and merchandise. They call their sound »Empowerment Karaoke«.
Their current album »Everything Possibbong« draws on the Korean pop genre BBong – which emerged during the colonial period and now fosters intergenerational dialogue. In their visuals, past and future blend: using artificial intelligence, the band generated baby photos from their own faces – a metaphor for the hybrid DNA of their sound.
22:00 Post Neo
It’s the comeback of the summer. Because honestly – how long have we been waiting for Kerosin95 to return? It felt like forever, even though the widely acclaimed debut »Volume 1« was released in 2021. That album delivered the soundtrack to a queer decade. Tracks like »Futter« and »Außen hart innen flauschig« aren’t just bangers – they’ve become anthems of visibility. Kerosin95 describes themself as »a colourful plastic flower in grey concrete« – while making it crystal clear that space and attention need to be redistributed. »Are you scared of the way I am? Jealous of my beard?« It‘s been far too long since we‘ve witnessed the storm this Austrian act is capable of unleashing. Kerosin95 doesn‘t hide the political power of their music: »I can’t rap and claim to be apolitical.« They advocate for intersectional justice and wield humour – including sharp disstracks – to call out discriminatory behaviour. Now, finally, this year’s Pop-Kultur festival brings the long-awaited reunion.
