Inner Unity Ensemble is a music project founded and curated by Ethnomusicologist Yalda Yazdani and Musical director and Guitar player Mahan Mirabab. One of the most talented female singers of Iran, Samin Ghorbani, joined the project along with Valentina Bellanova (ney – oriental longitudinal flute and flute), Uygur Vural (Cello) and Shabnam Parvaresh (Clarinet).
Through the last decade, Europe-based non-European musicians from different diasporas could get chances to raise their voices and show the creativity and the complexity of their classical/traditional & folklore music. For Inner Unity Ensemble it is very important to have equality between art and culture from Europe and the rest of the world, that’s why they created a repertoire that contains their individual musical languages, using the modal & microtonal concepts in Iranian Radif or Arabic/Turkish Maqams, as well as different harmonic concepts in European classical music and jazz.

PANDAwomen Festival explores the female side of today’s music scene, whether on stage or behind the scenes. Now in its sixth consecutive year, the festival provides a space for musical experimentation and collaboration. This year’s PANDAwomen is dedicated to women who have had to leave their homes and refuge. Women flee, escaping from war, hunger, political or religious persecution, forced marriages, and sexual violence. There is no hope that the situation will change for the better soon, but there’s hope that women who have found their new home may finally speak up without hiding their faces.
