Gerhard Schiewe: Arrangement and accordion
Alice Dixon: Cello
Yakov Geller: Viola
Suzanna: Vocals
Tango is Suzanna’s new musical thing. An exciting field. On the one hand, the tango, on the other – the somewhat more cheerful sister of the more melancholic tango – the milonga and, of course, the waltz in triple meter. In this varied program, the traditional tango, which has undergone astonishing development for decades, meets the tango nuevo, created by the Argentinian composer and exceptional musician Astor Piazzolla. The ensemble is made up of the Berlin singer Suzanna, Alice Dixon from England on the cello, the Israeli violist Yakov Geller, and Gerhard A. Schiewe from Berlin on the accordion. Their shared passion is the tango with all its sonorous facets. Their musical influences range from jazz to classical and folklore. The accordionist penned the arrangements which are tailor-made for the ensemble.

Tangо is the musical theme to which the four musicians dedicate themselves with devotion. The traditional Tango, which has undergone astonishing development for decades, meets the Tango Nuevo in the diverse program, created by the Argentine composer and exceptional Bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla. Classical and jazz elements, as well as improvisation, alongside the unconventional structuring, are distinctive features of the “New Tango.” The ensemble consists of the Berlin-based singer Suzanna, the English cellist Alice Dixon, Israeli violist Yakov Geller, and the Berlin-based Gerhard A. Schiewe on accordion. Their common passion is Tango with all its rich facets. Musically shaped in different ways by jazz, classical, and folklore, the arrangements are written specifically for the ensemble by the accordionist.
