Bertrand Denzler is a Swiss and French improviser/composer/saxophonist. He has toured extensively with groups and ensembles such as Sbatax, Trio Sowari, Hubbub, Onceim, Denzler-Grip-Johansson, The Seen, Zoor, Denzler-Guionnet-Martin-Unami, Propagations, Sunny Murray Duo/Trio as well as with countless other musicians. He has taken part in over a hundred discographic publications on labels like Relative Pitch, Potlatch, Matchless, Mikroton, Confront, Umlaut or Leo. He has composed pieces for numerous performers and ensembles, as well as for film and theatre. He has published texts on music, including The Practice of Musical Improvisation (Bloomsbury Academic) in collaboration with J.-L. Guionnet.

Derek Shirley was born in Ottawa, Canada and is based in Berlin. Playing double bass, electric bass, cello, drums and electronics, he is active in the improvised/experimental music scene, focusing on low frequency minimalism in both improvised and composed realms. He performs actively with such groups as Monno, Vladislav Delay Quartet, Hotelgäste, MEK, Obliq, Coal Oven, Ruby3 or Unununium, and in various collaborations with such musicians as Sven-Åke Johansson, Chris Abrahams, Steve Heather, Anat Cohavi, Tobias Delius, Antoine Chessex, Lucio Capece, Mika Vanio, Michael Thieke, Robin Hayward, Justin Haynes, Dave Bennett, Alessandro Bosetti, Tony Buck.

Steve Heather is an Australian freelance musician (drums, percussion, electronics), composer, performance and installation maker based in Berlin. He is interested in the repetitive acoustic territories of everyday life informing his and others’ sonic agency. His research revolves around the physicality of sonic boundaries and how it informs compositional methodologies, materials and structures along with the listeners’ corporal reading thereof. His music is a collision of captivating simplicity and fleeting subtle complexity. His current music projects/bands vary from avant-garde, free jazz to noise, drone rock, progressive fitness disco and include Stiff Leather, The Still, Booklet, Y, and The Splitter Orchestra. Steve’s music is riddled with noise and rapture, sudden links, resonances, offered assistance and conflicts of interest.
