BABAYKI

Babayki is the story of three women of different origins coming together to sing polyphonic music from Eastern European cultures.

A few years after their first meeting in Berlin, Anna, Lauriane and Juliette seek to transmit those powerful traditional songs, keeping them alive and bringing them back under a new light, shaping new arrangements, composing at the crossroads of new influences. Their music is a mixture of folklore driven sounds and instrumental pieces of different eras, adding the sounds of the flute, clarinet and violin.

Women’s memories of past times still resonate today through their interpretation, magnified by their creation of a poetic stage universe inspired by the Slavic culture.
