Ab Baars (Netherlands) – tenor saxophone, clarinet
Alexander Riris (Norway) – bass
Tor Haugerud (Norway) – drums, percussion
Since the 1970s Dutch reed player Ab Baars has lent his unique style as a tenor, clarinet and shakuhachi player to a multitude of adventurous and great projects. Notably as a member of the ICP Orchestra, as a guest with The Ex and a large discography as a band leader.
Tor Haugerud has been a staple of the Norwegian scene for improvised music and jazz, committing himself to a nuanced and spontaneous style of percussion with acts such as EnEnEn, Trondheim Jazzorkester and BOL.
Combining these two gentle giants in the trio format is bass player Alexander Riris. Having led and composed for larger ensembles for some years, he put together this group in 2022 to explore the naked freedom that defines the saxophone trio.
Together they are BAARS / RIRIS / HAUGERUD and will fill this evening at PANDA platforma with melodic, living, breathing improvised music!
