The trio, consisting of Anna Kaluza (alto saxophone), Céline Voccia (piano), and Matthias Bauer (double bass), forms a powerfully cohesive unit that skillfully weaves its respective instruments together and balances itself sonically with freshness and finesse. The three musicians maintain a constant level of musical tension while simultaneously exploring a wide range of approaches to free jazz. Delicate murmurs sit alongside raw pointillism, and quieter, introspective passages are complemented by stretches of rigorous forward drive.
Céline Voccia is a french pianist, composer and improviser in the Free Jazz scene in Berlin. She studied classical piano at the Geneva Conservatory and jazz music and improvisation in Paris and Berlin. Her music is a fusion of the jazz vernacular with classical piano technique, thus culminating in an abstraction of contemporary music with Free Jazz. Having been influenced by the likes of Olivier Messiaen and Toru Takemitsu, Céline Voccia belongs to the circles of New European Improvisation.
Anna Kaluza studied jazz saxophone in Cologne with Frank Gratkowski, in Vienna with Klaus Dickbauer and in London with Jean Toussaint. From 2008 to 09, she lived in London, pursued a Master’s degree at City University/Guildhall School of Music and Drama. During this year she became a member of the London Improvisers Orchestra (L.I.O.) and the group Splatter and played with musicians from the not applicable network and label. Since returning to live in Berlin she has been establishing the Berlin Improvisers Orchestra (which includes musicians from the L.I.O.) and regularly plays with international guest musicians.
Matthias Bauer is a double bass player, improviser and composer based in Berlin. He is specialised in contemporary music, performed a large repertoire of solo compositions for double bass and is working with Berlin based new music ensembles. He performed with many internationally renowned musicians of the free improviser scene and took part in various ensembles and festivals.

Das Trio, bestehend aus Anna Kaluza (Altsaxophon), Céline Voccia (Klavier) und Matthias Bauer (Kontrabass), bildet eine kraftvoll geschlossene Einheit, die ihre jeweiligen Instrumente gekonnt miteinander verwebt und sich mit Frische und Geschick klanglich ausbalanciert. Die drei Musiker*innen halten ein konstantes Maß an musikalischer Spannung aufrecht und erforschen gleichzeitig eine Vielzahl von Herangehensweisen an Free Jazz. Zartes Murmeln steht neben rauem Pointillismus, und ruhigere, introspektive Darbietungen werden durch Passagen mit rigorosem Vorwärtsdrang ergänzt.
Céline Voccia ist eine französische Pianistin, Komponistin und Improvisatorin der Free-Jazz-Szene in Berlin. Seit ihrer Rückkehr nach Berlin baut sie das Berlin Improvisers Orchestra auf (das auch Musikerinnen des L.I.O. umfasst) und spielt regelmäßig mit internationalen Gastmusiker*innen.

Matthias Bauer ist Kontrabassist, Improvisator und Komponist mit Sitz in Berlin. Er hat sich auf zeitgenössische Musik spezialisiert, ein umfangreiches Repertoire an Solokompositionen für Kontrabass aufgeführt und arbeitet mit Berliner Neue-Musik-Ensembles zusammen. Er hat mit vielen international renommierten Musiker*innen der Free-Improvisation-Szene gespielt und an zahlreichen Ensembles und Festivals teilgenommen.
