Erleben Sie einen besonderen Abend, bei dem Klang und Duft miteinander verschmelzen. Das Donavazi Project verbindet traditionelle iranische Musik mit zeitgenössischen Elementen. Mit Klavier, Schlagzeug und Perkussion erschaffen die Musiker eine Klangwelt, die Zeit und Raum überwindet. Begleitet wird das Konzert vom Duft des kostbaren Boswellia-Weihrauchs – eine sinnliche Erfahrung für Augen, Ohren und Nase.

Über das Donavazi Project
2021 gegründet von Mazyar Younesi und Rouzbeh Fadavi, verfolgt das Donavazi Project einen neuartigen Ansatz zur Interpretation iranischer Musik. Auf Basis des traditionellen Radif entsteht ein musikalisches Spannungsfeld zwischen Struktur und Improvisation, Klangfarbe und Rhythmus.
Das aktuelle Programm “Chahargahi” widmet sich dem Dastgah-e Chahargah, einem der wichtigsten Modi der iranischen klassischen Musik, interpretiert mit Klavier, Schlagzeug und Perkussion auf ganz persönliche Weise – tief verwurzelt, aber offen für neue Klänge.
Die Musiker
Mazyar Younesi ist Pianist, Komponist, Dirigent und Sänger. Nach klassischer Gesangs- und Klavierausbildung in Teheran gründete er das Iran-Austria Symphony Orchestra und komponierte u. a. für Film und Theater.
Rouzbeh Fadavi ist Komponist, Rhythmusdesigner und Schlagzeuger. Er arbeitete mit Formationen wie Diminished Quartet, Zaffron Collective und Tenor Trio und verbindet Musik mit architektonischem Denken.
Roshanak Rafani, Perkussionistin aus dem Iran mit Sitz in Berlin, ist spezialisiert auf Daf und Tombak. Sie hat mit Ensembles wie dem DKO und dem West-Eastern Divan Orchestra gespielt und ist Absolventin der Barenboim-Said-Akademie.
Boswellia – Der Duft des Abends
Weihrauch (Boswellia) – seit Jahrtausenden als heiliger Duft in Zeremonien verwendet – entfaltet ein erdiges, würziges Aroma. Die Harzperlen stammen v. a. aus Somalia und Oman und wirken beruhigend, inspirierend und meditativ.

The concert is accompanied by the rich aroma of precious Boswellia incense – a sensory experience for eyes, ears, and nose.

About the Donavazi Project
Founded in 2021 by Mazyar Younesi and Rouzbeh Fadavi, the Donavazi Project offers a fresh approach to interpreting Iranian music. Rooted in the traditional Radif, their music explores the space between structure and improvisation, tone and rhythm.
The current program, “Chahargahi”, is dedicated to Dastgah-e Chahargah, one of the key modes of classical Iranian music. Interpreted through piano, drums, and percussion, this deeply personal exploration remains grounded in tradition while opening itself to new sounds.
The Artists
Mazyar Younesi is a pianist, composer, conductor, and vocalist. Trained in classical piano and voice in Tehran, he founded the Iran-Austria Symphony Orchestra and composes for film and theater.
Rouzbeh Fadavi is a composer, rhythm designer, and drummer. He has worked with groups like Diminished Quartet, Zaffron Collective, and Tenor Trio, merging music with an architectural mindset.
Roshanak Rafani, a percussionist from Iran based in Berlin, specializes in Daf and Tombak. She has performed with ensembles such as the German Chamber Orchestra (DKO) and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and is a graduate of the Barenboim-Said Academy.
Boswellia – The Scent of the Evening
Frankincense (Boswellia), used for thousands of years in spiritual ceremonies, emits a rich, earthy, and spicy aroma. Harvested mainly in Somalia and Oman, the resin pearls are valued for their calming, inspiring, and meditative properties.
