Niko Meinhold Studied at HfM „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin, at Kungligan Musikhögskolan Stockholm. Masters at Jazz-Institut Berlin. Meinhold wrote compositions for solo instruments, ensembles, choir, orchestra, also for film, TV, and radio (like RIAS Big Band Berlin and NDR Big Band) as well as for theatre and CD productions. He won awards such as the Karl-Hofer-Award, the Berlin Senat Composers Grant, Award for best German University Ensemble for his trio Tritorn, Nordiska Kulturfondet Tourgrant for his Scandinavian group Northern Alliance.
Anna Kaluza (Foto) studied jazz saxophone in Cologne with Frank Gratkowski, in Vienna with Klaus Dickbauer and in London with Jean Toussaint. She was a member of Simon Rummel’s Fantasmofonika, which was awarded the jazz art prize NRW in 2004. From 2008 to 2009 she lived in London, pursued a Master’s degree at City University/Guildhall School of Music and Drama. During this year she became a member of the London Improvisers Orchestra (L.I.O.) and the group Splatter. Since returning to live in Berlin she has been establishing the Berlin Improvisers Orchestra. She is a member of the Hanam Quintet, the Kaluza Quartett, the Frankfurt-based trio Baustelle No 5, the Heisenberg Quintet and Rusira Mixtett.
Hannes Buder is a musician, composer and improviser in the field of experimental music. His works concentrate on issues of movement, authenticity, intuition, minimalism, and slowness. Buder’s current projects include the bands Zug Zug, Gravity, the duo Nothingness with Sarah Jegelka, and his solo projects. Beyond that he has collaborated with Audrey Chen, Tony Buck, Audrey Lauro, Hilary Jeffery, Mike Majkowski, Steve Heather, Nicole Mitchell’s Black Earth Ensemble, the Berlin Improvisers Orchestra and many others.
