#PANDAwomen 2019

+995 project unites three emerging and independent musicians from Georgia. They have already been united for a project “Sleepers, Poets, Scientists” with 6 more Georgian female musicians that ended up with an vinyl album production.

Each of them composes music in their own genre. Anushka – IDM, downtempo, ambient. Nasi – experimental – free improvisation – electroacoustic. Dea – experimental electronic.

But for the PANDAwomen they decided to prepare a joint performance and present their country’s modern music scene in Berlin.

Halfie A.K.A Anushka Chkheidze is a 21-years-old musician, whose inspiration is Georgian church songs. Anushka’s tracks are released at CES Records and Theosophy. The first compilation of CES Records “Sleepers Poets Scientists” combines 9 producers of women’s creations. Anushka tries to move in different genres and not to limit one direction, so her livesets are always accompanied by dramaturgy.

Nasi Chavchavadze – Musician from Georgia, who is able of mixing multiple genres, including performing various instruments using unorthodox, experimental performance techniques. She considers improvisation to be the best way to express her musical ideas. Her performance is based on playing acoustic cello while also using electronic samples. Manipulating ambient sounds from environment, she creates samples, that give a composition interesting and hybrid sound. Her sound is strongly influenced by classic electro-acoustic music.

Dea Bezhuashvili’s relationship with music dates back to her time with an all-girls alternative rock band. Later, her interest in electronic music was sparked and she became preoccupied with its production. She considers it to be the most moving medium and it has not been that long since she decided to take this path. Dea realized that it is possible to create music under virtually any circumstances and that it can turn the most intense, chaotic, bitter feelings into the sweetest and the most unforgettable emotions. Tori Amos, Massive Attack and later Radiohead influenced Dea’s work.

Tamriko Kvachadze is a freelance writer and a musician (violin player with a classical background). She works mostly as an art-director of various multifunctional spaces, writes articles about classical music and manages cultural events. Having spent 17 years in Saint Petersburg and then moving back to her hometown, Tbilisi, has given her great experience in understanding and creating multicultural projects.
